In an industry with all-too much waiting around ā Iām looking at you, Android updates ā news of something happening before expected is always good to hear. Over the weekend, we encountered several stories regarding Galaxy Note 8 shipments, the earliest claiming that Verizon and Sprint had begun shipping devices. Now, it appears that Samsung is doing the same.
Galaxy Note 8 pre-order customers have taken to Reddit to announce the news, reporting that Samsung.com has changed their order status to āShipped.ā This means that the handset could arrive this week, a number of days ahead of the previously stated September 15 release date; the smartphone was announced just over a week ago on August 25.

Itās not all that uncommon for third-party sellers or carriers to ship devices slightly earlier than expected: we heard similar reports regarding the Galaxy S8 in April. For the manufacturer itself to take this course of action is less common ā perhaps Samsung is still trying to make up for Galaxy Note 7 problems last year? And, hey, if the units are just sitting in a warehouse waiting, why not?
Meanwhile, Andy Rubinās Essential Phone is at the other end of the scale: even days after the company announced shipping had started, customers have still been leaving messages to ask where their order information is.
