When you're trying to figure out how you can free up iPhone storage space, one option you should consider is to clear your cache, history, cookies or any other temporary data from your apps.
The Browser apps that you visits tend to have horde pieces and bits of the sites you have visited, accumulating more and more over time. These unknown stored cached files typically speed things up when you are revisiting a site, but they can sometimes cause issues when the site is been updated. They also give the app the ability to grow well beyond its initial download size.
To find and delete cached files on your iPhones can be some how difficult, so we'll help you lay out every possible method we can think of for giving your iPhone apps a spring cleaning.
How To Clear Safari, Firefox, and Chrome Cache
You can clear your Safari, Chrome or Firefox app cache on iPhone or iPad, depending on the app of your choice you frequently browse with, you'll have to use different methods to clean up the leftovers that is in your recent web surfing.
1. Users of Safari should open first the Settings app and then scroll down to till you see the Safari settings. In this menu, you should scroll down the list to find 'Clear History and Website Data'. Click to confirm this option, and Safari will remove everything.
2. While you're still on the settings, you can also select the 'Block All Cookies' to prevent your cache from filling up back with junks that is not needed.
3. Another option you can use is to navigate straight to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Safari > Website Data. This will show you the websites that have currently downloaded files into your cache, including how much space they have occupied. You can swipe left to delete the individual sites or click 'Remove All Website Data' to wipe them all out.
For users of Chrome and Firefox, you'll need to go into those apps to explore the necessary settings to clear your cache.
In Chrome, scroll up to see the bottom navigation tab appear, tap the 3 dots, and choose "History". Click on the red 'Clear Browsing Data' section and Chrome will give you permission to delete any or all of this you choose: the browser history, site data, cached images, cookies and files, and also your saved passwords, or the autofill data (like addresses). Toggle your choices and select 'Clear Browsing Data' again and that is done.
In Firefox, click on the 3 parallel lines that is in the bottom then tab and select "Settings". Go straight to Privacy > Data Management; there, you can globally or individually clear out the Website Data, or even you can clear any of the following private data: like the cache, offline websites data, browsing history, cookies, downloaded files, or tracking protection.
Clearing Third-party Apps Cache On iPhone or iPad
Some of the third-party apps have their own built-in browser that can keep cache data stored on devices. We can't possibly be running through this method for every third-party iPhone app, but some of them do have some useful tools in the iPhone Settings app.
From the main menu Settings, just scroll down the list of third-party apps and choose the app you request. Check the down part of the app's settings, you will see an option to 'Reset Cache on Next Launch'. Choosing this option will temporarily wipe away the junk you don't need.
If this option didn't appear in the app settings – and most times some don't have it – you'll need to find its own in the menu of the app settings.
Delete and Reinstall The Apps
This is a stage where you don't have clear way of removing its cache, it would have to be delete then to reinstall the app in question.
Navigate through "Settings > General > iPhone Storage" and tap on any app you want. You'll notice that the amount of its storage space is Documents & Data, versus space of the app itself.
Normally it is recommended to offload the older apps, which will remove the app but keep your data saved for later. In this case the problem is the saved data, and fully deleting the app is your best recourse.
Tap Delete app twice, then go to the App Store to search for it, then you can redownload it.
