A bizarre bug on Twitter this weekend meant anyone who tweeted the name of one particular US city got suspended.
Twitter users noticed on Sunday that accounts who tweeted the word "Memphis" were receiving 12-hour suspensions.

Some found ingenious ways of discussing it, and the phenomenon was even addressed by basketball team the Memphis Grizzlies.

Twitter confirmed to Insider in a statement on Monday that the suspensions were the result of a glitch - though it did not specify how that glitch came about.
"There was a system issue impacting accounts that tweeted the word 'Memphis.' The issue mistakenly requested that account owners delete those Tweets and temporarily limited their account features. The affected accounts are now reinstated and this issue has been resolved," a spokesperson said.
"We're sorry this happened," Twitter's tech support account tweeted Sunday.
