The Sims is coming to mobile (again) in a new title conveniently named The Sims Mobile. EA announced the game yesterday, and unlike the previous mobile Sims titles, it looks like The Sims Mobile could be a more faithful adaptation of the PC versions.
The Sims Mobile will allow you to play God with your own Sims, the name given to the cartoony avatars of the Sims universe, and control their daily lives. You will not only be able to choose how your Sims look, with different outfits and hairstyles, but also give them specific life goals and personality traits.
Your Sim’s home is yours to customize too, with a variety of furniture, decorations, appliances and more. Further, EA mentions that you can “Play Together,” which I presume indicates some kind of multiplayer component, though it’s not clear yet exactly how that would work.

The Sims is one of the biggest selling gaming franchises of all time and has already appeared on Android twice before with The Sims 3 and The Sims FreePlay — the latter amassing more than 100 million downloads on Android. Both are slimmed down versions of the PC titles however, and don’t provide the same experience.
Though the prospect of a proper Sims title on Android has me excited, EA is also the publisher of the Dungeon Keeper and The Simpsons: Tapped Out mobile titles, which are notorious for their payment structure. Goodness knows the ways in which EA could try and cajole cash out of you for this one — the number of objects in the game make it ripe for in-app purchases. But I won’t jump to conclusions just yet.
EA says The Sims Mobile is “coming soon” and you can pre-register over at the official website for updates. It will likely be free-to-play.
