Folks who use Google Photos have plenty to look forward to by year’s end, but a smaller feature that is available now is the ability to remove pictures from the main Photos tab without them being deleted (via 9to5Google).
If you head to the navigation panel, you should see a new “Archive” menu option. Long-press a picture, press the overflow icon on the top right, and select “Archive.” You can also archive photos in single photo view. Keep in mind that archived images are not deleted – the app reminds you that they can still be seen in albums, search results, and the Archive menu.
If you prefer, you can just delete an image, but archiving is a good option for those who share their main photo library with others and wish to keep images from their prying eyes. This is also nice for times when you want to move redundant photos, screenshots, and more away from the timeline in order to keep it nice and tidy.
The best part about the archive feature is you do not need to update your Photos app to get it – just make sure you are on version 2.15 of the app and you should be good to go.

Video stabilization
April 13: In version 2.13, Google Photos introduced an impressive video stabilization feature that makes your shaky videos a little bit nicer to watch. The feature is available in the Videos tab of the Albums section. For any given video, tap on the pencil icon to edit it and then pick the Stabilize option. There is some warping and other artifacts in some cases, but the video stabilization is actually quite good, so make sure to give it a try. You can check out a demo of the feature in action here.
