The second generation Echo Dot is currently on sale at Amazon for $10 (or 20%) off the original asking price. This is the first time Amazon has discounted the individual product this year, though it has had previous offers on multiple units, and it currently matches the Black Friday price from 2016.
The Echo Dot is an Alexa-powered, voice-controlled gadget that can be used to answer questions, play music, read audiobooks, and more. It’s similar to the standard Echo, which costs $179.99, with the only major difference being that it doesn’t house as big a speaker. However, you can connect it to existing speakers via Bluetooth or 3.5 mm jack.
We’ve got a comparison of all of the Echo products at the link above and you can also take a look at our “who is the Echo Dot for?” article to find out if it’s something you should invest in.
Amazon’s offer ends at 12 PM ET today and, though 10 bucks might not sound like a huge reduction, you’re unlikely to find it much cheaper than this before a 3rd-gen product lands (if it even does).
