Android and YouTube ‘Go’ allow for smooth Android experiences on limited hardware

Android is extremely popular in countries like Brazil and India, but its often times hard to get devices into people’s hands. Things like expensive hardware and demanding software can often hinder the spread of the operating system, and that’s why Google has developed Android Go.

Android Go is an optimized version of the operating system that allows for smooth operation of devices with limited hardware capabilities. The option will automatically be available to devices with 1GB of RAM or less, so anyone can use the OS to get the most out of their Android experience.

But hardware isn’t the only thing limiting access to Android’s full capabilities. Many important apps like YouTube currently require quite a bit of power for playback, and that’s why Google is working on optimizing a number of their first party apps to support a custom ‘Go’ variant.

YouTube Go will help to use less data and memory from devices, meaning that those who have limited access to these hardware and software capabilities will still be able to experience everything Google has to offer.

Excited about the optimizations? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
