Uber has just added a new “cross street” feature for pickups and drop offs designed to help protect your privacy. Perhaps you don’t want your Uber driver knowing your home address or maybe you just prefer to be picked up at the nearest cross-section for convenience. Uber has been testing the feature for months and is now rolling it out across the US, “in every city” according to the press release.
Simply enter a cross street in the app or if the app doesn’t recognize it, just enter a nearby address and then drag the pin to the nearest intersection. Considering the renewed interest in privacy of late and Uber coming under fire yet again for its privacy policies, this is a nice addition to an indispensable app. The company also launched a new partnership with Getaround, finding a way for budding Uber drivers that don’t own a car to still join the fleet.
