Have you ever bought a fake Apple Charger before? If you have, I think you should stop buying those fake chargers and taking a risk that could damage your Apple device.
Actually, not everyone likes paying high price for things that can be replace with a lower cost one especially if these things are ridiculously expensive in the first place. If it is Android you can still get a fake charger and still be okay with it. However, when it comes to Apple chargers there are really no alternative to buying the real thing. Buying a fake charger just isn’t worth the risk.
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) just conducted an investigation and research into the safety of fake Apple chargers. The company bought 400 fake Apple chargers from suppliers all over the world, only to find out that of the 400 chargers only 3 pass even the most basic safety test while the remaining 397 chargers failed the entire safety test.
The 397 chargers failed an electrical strength test in which high voltages are directed into the units to see how much voltage will flow between the input and output. So if the current in the unit is above the limit, the unit will have insufficient isolation with impending electric shock”.
Obviously, this means that 99 percent of the fake Apple chargers the CTSI purchased online were dangerous. This is a shocking result for the CTSI and Apple users.
The investigation conducted by CTSI followed a previous investigation conducted by Apple itself. Apple also purchased 100 chargers from a company that claims to sell the real Apple Chargers on Amazon, only to find that 90 percent of the chargers were actually fakes.
Apple sued the company responsible which is “Mobile Star LLC,” and in the lawsuit, it stated that these fake chargers “have high probability to overheat, catch fire, and deliver a deadly electric shock to iPhone/iPad while in normal use”.
As a result of this, consumers/phone users need to be more watchful and careful when buying Apple chargers. Doing this, you’ll be able to reduce the risk of buying fake chargers which could have high possibility of overheating, catching fire, or shock on your smartphone.
Toby Harris, the chairman of National Trading Standards, said:
“Criminals across the globe are using online platforms to lure you in with cheap deals for fake items, many of which are dangerous and have been known to overheat and cause house fires.”
“We urge consumers to be vigilant when buying electrical products online: be wary of deals that look too good to be true and search for reviews of the seller before making your purchase.”
So I’m suggesting that you should spend more money when it comes to buying an Apple Charger so as to reduce the risk of buying counterfeits which could threaten your phone. Well Apple charges for accessories, appears to be the only sensible option in this situation. Once you’ve gotten a real Apple charger, just take good care of it since it is expensive compared to normal Android chargers.
